Professional Study Tours and Programs

Many delegations from other countries visit British Columbia each year in order to study our health care system. Canadian Advanced Medical Services International acts as a central referral agency and responds to requests from people from other countries who want to learn about the Canadian Health Care System. We arrange orientation programs and study tours for visiting delegations on behalf of the Ministry of Health and provider organizations such as hospitals and long term care facilities and programs. On request, orientation programs may be arranged for any length of time, to study any aspect of the Canadian healthcare system.

In addition to healthcare related topics, Canadian Advanced Medical Services also arranges study tour programs focusing on the Canadian social welfare system. The program would provide an introduction to Canadian income security, social services and social work and would be of interest to individuals in the social services community, social work professions, public policy advocates, and other community activists.

The professional staff involved in each program combine excellent presentation and facilitation skills with a comprehensive understanding of the health care system. All programs combine presentations with facility tours and encourage open discussion amongst participants and presenters. Our capacity to deliver these programs is strengthened by our ability to draw upon expertise from many areas of the health care system including government bodies, universities, community colleges, health care facilities and private sector firms.

On request training programs and study tours can be arranged for any length of time to study any aspect of the Canadian health or social welfare system. Programs are readily available in the following areas, but custom designed programs to meet the specific needs of a particular group can also be arranged. It normally takes 4 - 6 weeks to finalize details of a study tour.

Costs for each program vary depending on the number of participants and the extent of the program with our costs calculated on a daily rate for the entire group. These fees cover planning and coordination of the program, equipment and room rentals, professional fees for the presenters and honorariums to cover staff time during the facility tours. (Please note that transportation costs are not included in the program fee. If transportation is required, we are available to assist with arrangements on a cost recovery basis.).

We would be happy to provide you with any further information about our study tour programs or you can complete the online study tour planning guide and we will review the information provided, respond to your request.
